William Mangold has joined the Department of Architecture & Interiors as an Assistant Teaching Professor. His work is grounded in a hands-on approach to design and building as well as his ongoing research into socially responsible design practices. He is a National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certificate holder, and a Ph.D. candidate in the Environmental Psychology program at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. William recently completed an edited volume bringing together scholarship from design and social sciences: The People, Place, and Space Reader published by academic publisher Routledge. This book developed out of research and teaching on topics such as home, healing and restorative environments, sacred places, and public space. 

Trained as a cabinet maker, William received degrees in Fine Arts and Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). In New York, he worked on renovation and restoration projects with Ivan Brice Architecture and was on the faculty at Pratt Institute. With his partner, a textile designer, he maintains a small design studio in Philadelphia.
